Acted ladylike

Dressed modestly

Been good little girls

For centuries

And look

where it got us

Did not wearing a short skirt

Stop the men

from ripping off our clothes

And taking what they thought was theirs?

Did acting like a lady and shutting up

Stop our boyfriends

From making rape jokes

And rolling their eyes as we tried not to cry?

Did being polite girls

Stop the male teachers

From boring their eyes into our chests

When we just wanted to learn?

Did you ever think
